On September 20th, 2023 John was admitted to the hospital to be checked for possible galstones. 

Unfortunately, the diagnoses was Bile-Duct Cancer and Liver Mestasis Stage 4.

The days became weeks, and the weeks became a very long story that as you know.. 

He lost his battle, and passed away November 7, 2023.

​

A beautiful service was held in Ohio, and then in Los Angeles. 

John was not an ordinary filmmaker.

He devoted his life to making sure that everything he was a part of could have quality and heart- as he would call everything in his path- A Trial By Fire.

​

In his final days, it seemed that his ending was also a trial; as he came to realize that what he yearned to do if he was to get out of the hospital, was not to just make his movie, but to help his friends and people like him (gearheads that create art and build with their hands) make theirs.

Every penny made or given in John's name will continue to be used in maintaining his cars, and supporting his vision.

He was not just my best friend, he was the one that helped me find a voice, and helped me fight for who I am today.
